TN technology and IPS technology of LCD display are two mainstream solutions in LCD display technology. Their main difference lies in the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules, which leads to differences in display effect, performance and application.

1. Principle of liquid crystal arrangement

TN screen (Twisted Nematic type) liquid crystal molecules will rapidly twist under the action of voltage, controlling light to pass through IPS screen (in-plane switching type) liquid crystal molecules to rotate In the same Plane, changing the light transmittance.

2.Contrast

Neither is a strong point. The traditional VA screen is superior to them in terms of contrast (black is darker). The contrast of IPS and TN is theoretically similar, but the actual viewing experience of IPS is usually better than that of TN.

3.Viewing Angle

TN screen: The viewing Angle is relatively small, especially with severe color cast in the up and down directions.

The liquid crystal molecules of TN screens are vertically distorted. Once the viewing angle deviates from the front, the light passing through will be blocked, resulting in severe color distortion and whitening.

IPS screen: The viewing angle is wide, usually reaching 178°, and the colors are consistent from almost any angle.

The liquid crystal molecules of the IPS display are rotated horizontally, which allows light to pass through more evenly, resulting in an extremely wide viewing angle and vivid and accurate colors. No matter where you sit in front of the screen, the picture you see is the same.
