What is stretched bar display?

A stretched bar display—often referred to in the industry as a bar-type LCD monitor—is engineered with native ultra-wide aspect ratios typically reaching 32:3, 16:4.5, or fully custom resolutions such as 3840x720 or 1920×720. Unlike cropped standard panels that waste 60 to 80 percent of backlight power on masked areas, native stretch bar panels utilize the entire LCD cell, delivering superior thermal performance, lower power consumption, and chassis depths as slim as 25 to 35 millimeters.


Jingda Display assisted one of our Korean clients in successfully developing a 43 inch LCD monitor, which is mainly used for real-time bus route announcements. After repeated validation from samples to small batches, the project has been successfully mass-produced and applied on buses. Traditional square or rectangular LCD monitors cannot be embedded and installed perfectly, and exposed installation will occupy passenger space, affect vehicle aesthetics, and even bring potential safety hazards. The customized strip structure of the stretched bar display is completely tailored to the spatial characteristics of buses. It can be seamlessly embedded in various narrow installation positions without modifying the original vehicle structure, realizing zero-space occupation and integrated installation.
