What is GFF Structure?

Among various capacitor touch screen structures, the G+FF structure (Glass + Film + Film) has gained wide application in various electronic display devices due to its mature manufacturing process, flexible design approach, and excellent touch performance. Especially in the TFT color screen field, the G+FF structure can be combined with LCD liquid crystal displays of different sizes to achieve integration of display and touch functions, providing more flexible product solutions for equipment manufacturers.

What is GFF Structure?

The G+FF structure is a common design for projected capacitive touch screens (PCAP or P-CAP). G+FF is the abbreviation of Glass + Film + Film, where:

G (Glass): Refers to the surface protective glass, also known as Cover Glass, which is mainly used to protect the internal structure of the touch screen.

F (Film): The first transparent conductive film, usually used to form a touch electrode in one direction.

F (Film): The second transparent conductive film, used to form a touch electrode in another direction.

The outermost layer is the tempered glass cover plate, responsible for protecting the screen and providing the touch surface; inside are two PET film sensing layers, respectively carrying the ITO (indium tin oxide) conductive patterns for the X-axis and Y-axis.

The advantage of GFF structure?

Excellent touch sensitivity: The G+FF structure employs projected capacitance detection technology, allowing fingers to be recognized without applying significant pressure;

Flexible structural design: The G+FF touchscreen uses two layers of flexible conductive films as sensors, thus having certain flexibility in structural design;

Flexible cover glass: The cover glass can be customized in thickness and shape as needed, balancing strength and appearance design;

Controllable adhesion: The process is mature, and combined with OCA full bonding, it can reduce reflections and enhance the display effect of TFT screens.

Application Scenario of G+FF

Due to its balanced cost and performance, the G+FF structure is widely used in TFT color screen products that require stable multi-touch functionality and are sensitive to the overall cost. These devices typically demand that the screen maintain stable touch operation and no response drift during long-term use, and the entire device is also sensitive to cost. The G+FF structure precisely covers this range: it offers more reliable multi-touch capabilities than G+F, a lower price and lighter weight than G+G, and thus becomes the preferred choice for large-scale projects. It is mainly applied in the following fields:

1. Industrial control panels, human-machine interfaces (HMI), and operation terminals;

2. Display terminals for medical devices and monitoring equipment;

3. Vehicle central control, aftermarket audio-visual, and special vehicle screens;

4. POS cash registers, self-service terminals, and interactive advertising machines;

5. Home automation control, video doorbells, and building intercom systems;

6. Instruments and meters, measurement equipment, and embedded integrated equipment.
