TFT LCD Display (Thin-Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) is usually simply referred to as TFT-LCD. It is a mainstream liquid crystal display technology. It takes advantage of the property that liquid crystal materials change their alignment direction under the influence of an electric field, thereby altering the light transmittance, to display images. TFT (Thin Film Transistor) is a technology for driving and controlling LCDS. It is an array of miniature transistors fabricated on a glass substrate, with each transistor independently controlling a liquid crystal pixel.
The LCD display adopts a driving mode of scanning one line at a time. When a positive pulse is applied to a certain transverse scanning common wire (or gate line), all the thin-film transistors connected to this transverse wire are turned on and in a conductive state. At this time, the capacitor on each pixel is charged to the voltage of its corresponding longitudinal common wire (or signal line). When it is the turn of other scanning lines to apply positive pulses, the original scanning line is subjected to negative voltage, turning off all thin-film transistors connected to this scanning line and putting it in a non-conductive state.
Therefore, the charge originally charged to each capacitor can maintain the time required to scan one frame until the next time it is the turn to scan that line. If the monitor uses twisted nematic TN liquid crystal, it is best to drive it with AC voltage, which means that the polarity of the driving voltage for each image must be opposite to that of the previous image. The LCD in the monitor is like a light valve, and as the voltage on each pixel changes, the intensity of the colored light passing through that pixel also changes.
TFT LCD displays are active matrix displays. Therefore, their driving methods are completely different from those of TN and STN LCD displays, and they adopt the source matrix dynamic driving method. The reason why TFT LCD screens can display vivid colors is that the color filters and TFT field-effect transistors inside them work in coordination to achieve this.
