Comparison of Advantages Between AMOLED and PMOLED

With the increasing importance of screens in electronic products, companies are gradually increasing their investment in display screens. Currently, the three most promising screen technologies are PMOLED and AMOLED. PMOLED and AMLED both belong to OLED, with the difference being the driving method. PMOLED, also known as passive matrix organic electroluminescent diode, has a similar light emission principle to STN LCD, while AMOLED, also known as active organic electroluminescent diode, is similar to TFT LCD.

AMOLED, or Active-Matrix OLED, can also be called "Active OLED" or "active OLED". In contrast to PMOLED, it uses TFT (thin-film transistor) with capacitors to store and control the electrical signals sent to pixels. However, the high cost and more complex production process make it even more difficult to control the cost.

PMOLED simply forms a matrix with cathodes and anodes, and illuminates the pixels in the array in a scanning manner. Each pixel operates in a short-pulse mode to emit high-brightness light for an instant. Its advantages include a simple structure that can effectively reduce manufacturing costs, but the driving voltage is high. PMOLED is suitable for specific scenarios: For applications that only need to display ICONS, numbers, characters or simple patterns (such as MP3 players), PMOLED offers an extremely economical and efficient solution. It can complete the work without complex drivers.
